DR SARAH RAINE

 

is a Research Fellow at Napier University, Edinburgh. She has recently completed a M3C Creative Economy Engagement Fellowship (AHRC funded) at Birmingham City University (UK), working in partnership with Cheltenham Jazz Festival on their Keychange pledge (PRS Foundation) to schedule a gender balanced programme by 2022.


Sarah researches and writes about multigenerational music scenes, gender and popular music, everyday experiences of jazz, and curating popular music history. Her most recent publications include Authenticity and Belonging in the Northern Soul Scene (Palgrave Macmillan, forthcoming 2020), Towards Gender Equality in the Music Industry (edited collection, Bloomsbury Academic 2019) and The Northern Soul Scene (edited collection, Equinox Publishing 2019).

 

Sarah is also the co-Managing Editor of Riffs, a Book Series Editor for Equinox Publishing, and the Review Editor for Popular Music History journal.
